Sr. Designer Design Lead

Quatrain Creative Savannah, Georgia

## Design Lead at Quatrain Creative

We’re Quatrain, a fully remote, woman-owned content agency that’s been around for over a decade. Our team of writers, designers, and strategists works with B2B brands—from education to technology—to produce blog posts, case studies, ebooks, videos, and more. We’re built on positive, transparent, collaborative values, and we mean it when we say we trust our people. That shows up in flexible schedules, family-friendly PTO, and a real focus on work-life balance.

Now we’re looking for a hands-on Design Lead to own the quality and execution of our design work. This role splits your time roughly 50–70% creating design work yourself and the rest leading a small team of freelance designers. You’ll develop creative briefs, review deliverables, and make sure projects meet client expectations and high creative standards—while staying on schedule and within budget. You’ll represent our design team in client meetings, confidently communicating creative decisions and leading design discussions. And you’ll help shape the evolution of our agency’s website and internal creative processes.

### What This Role Is—and Isn’t

This is **not** a branding, web, or marketing campaign design role. We specialize in designing content-heavy marketing assets for B2B companies. If your portfolio is full of ebooks, guidebooks, white papers, case studies, sales collateral, slide decks, infographics, and other editorial-style marketing assets, you’re in the right place. Many of our projects run 20+ pages and demand expert typography, page layout, information hierarchy, and production skills in Adobe InDesign and PowerPoint.

If your expertise is primarily in branding, UI/UX, websites, paid media, packaging, environmental design, illustration, or advertising campaigns, this probably isn’t the right fit.

### What You’ll Do Day to Day

- Produce high-quality design work for multiple clients (the bulk of your time).
- Design long-form marketing assets: ebooks, guidebooks, case studies, white papers, sales sheets, slide decks, infographics—anything that needs strong typography, layout, and readability.
- Manage and mentor a small group of freelance designers.
- Write creative briefs that translate client needs into actionable design direction.
- Review design deliverables and give thoughtful, constructive feedback.
- Attend client meetings as the design lead, presenting creative work and explaining decisions.
- Coordinate design workflows and keep projects consistent across the board.
- Build and maintain internal style guides for each client.
- Improve and maintain the agency website and other internal creative assets.
- Help establish design standards, templates, and processes as we grow.

### What We’re Looking For

**Basic qualifications:**

- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional graphic or digital design experience, preferably in an agency or client services environment.
- Experience leading or mentoring designers, freelancers, or creative teams.
- Confidence leading client meetings, advising on design direction, presenting creative work, and communicating decisions.
- Experience developing creative briefs and turning business goals into visual solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to give constructive design feedback.
- Excellent organization and project management skills—you’ll juggle multiple projects at once.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Cloud, especially advanced knowledge of Adobe InDesign.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with little direction.
- Must reside in the Eastern or Central time zone and be available to work Eastern business hours.

**Your portfolio is critical.** It should show significant experience designing long-form, content-heavy marketing materials—specifically ebooks, guidebooks, white papers, case studies, sales sheets, slide decks, infographics, and other editorial-style business collateral. If your portfolio leans heavily on branding, logos, websites, UI/UX, packaging, environmental graphics, or paid advertising, this role won’t align with our primary needs.

### Bonus Skills That Would Make You Stand Out

- Experience with web design and tools like **Webflow**.
- Experience with project management tools like **Monday, Asana, or Wrike**.
- Experience designing for B2B clients in tech or education.
- Basic motion graphics experience.

### Compensation & Benefits

- **Salary:** $80,000/year
- **Schedule:** Flexible work schedule, fully remote
- **Time off:** 12 paid days for federal/school holidays, plus an annual office closure from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day
- **Unlimited PTO** after 90 days of employment
- **HRA** available after 90 days of employment

If you’re a seasoned designer who thrives on creating polished, editorial-style marketing assets and enjoys mentoring others, we’d love to hear from you.
