GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Within the Department of Transportation (DOT), to be responsible for a variety of skilled graphic design and production tasks related to the design, layout, application, and fabrication of reflective highway signs for use on state roadways, vehicle graphics and conspicuity markings for use on state vehicles, and other related sign and graphics products; and to do related work as required. A thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques involved in graphic design and typesetting. Ability to reference, interpret, and adhere to RIDOT Sign Standards and the Federal Highway Administration's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Education and Experience Education: Possession of an Associate's degree or higher with courses in Digital Imaging, Commercial Art or Graphic/Visual Design or closely related field; and Experience: Considerable employment or experience as a graphic designer, large print shop technician, sign fabricator, or employment in a position involving the application of graphic design and sign production.
