About the Role

Our Lead Designer is the central figure in the visual and technical development of every signage

project. You'll receive, manage, and execute all incoming design requests from Sales, Project

Management, and Permitting — ensuring every drawing is accurate, code-compliant, and

production-ready.

We need someone who has designed intricate, complex works before — someone who doesn't

flinch at tight specs, multiple revision cycles, or high-volume output. You've done this at scale. You

know what it takes.

Key Responsibilities

Design Intake & Workflow

• Serve as the main point of contact for all incoming design requests — bids, leads, and

confirmed jobs

• Communicate actively with Sales, Project Managers, and the Permitting Department to gather

and clarify requirements

• Track, manage, and respond to all design tasks using HubSpot and Asana

Drawing Accuracy & Technical Execution

• Create and revise detailed signage drawings in Adobe Illustrator that reflect accurate sizing,

measurements, and layout

• Ensure all designs comply with local code and permit regulations in coordination with the

permitting team

• Include precise electrical, welding, and mounting details where required

Quality Control & Proofing

• Review and proof all drawings for accuracy, grammar, measurements, and client

specifications — every time, without exception

• Verify that all drawings match the approved concept: correct colors, scale, and design intent

• Greenlight approved drawings to Production, confirming the file is quality-checked and

fabrication-readyTeam Leadership & Training

• Supervise Assistant Designers — assign tasks, review output, and hold the standard

• Train junior team members on drawing standards, templates, and internal processes

• Ensure consistent use of standardized templates across all designs and structural

documentation

Cross-Department Collaboration

• Coordinate with Sales, Permitting, and Production to clarify details and resolve discrepancies

quickly

• Incorporate all requested changes accurately and ensure designs reflect the latest revision

before submission

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in signage design or technical drawing roles

• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; full Adobe Creative Cloud proficiency required

• Experience designing intricate, detail-heavy works with high technical precision

• Strong technical understanding of signage components, fabrication logic, and build specs

• Ability to interpret code requirements and integrate them accurately into design files

• Excellent communication, proofreading, and detail-checking skills — zero-tolerance for errors

• Leadership ability to manage junior designers and uphold design standards without hand-

holding

• AutoCAD experience is a plus

• Design engineering degree is a plus — not required

• Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator is primary; full suite familiarity expected)
