To be successful in this position: Technology Instruction: • Engage with residents to assess their instructional needs and provide customized computer training • Develop curricula for computer training classes that are responsive to the needs of the community and individual students • Develop additional curriculum for teaching soft skills as well as understanding the job market, networking, interviewing, and resume/cover letter writing • Deliver instruction to groups and individuals • Conduct outreach to Greenbridge, Seola Garden, and surrounding community residents • Monitor and documents student progress and provide the opportunity for students to practice their skills • Maintain attendance and progress records Technology Support • Coordinate with YWCA IT to help maintain the operations of computers at Greenbridge and Seola-Gardens • Work with IT to troubleshoot devices, printers, and resolve computer-related and technical issues • Provide tech support and occasional trainings to Economic Advancement team members, interns, and other YWCA staff • Work with program director and funders to coordinate compu¬¬¬¬ter software acquisitions and implementation within provided budget framework • Continuously assess program, client, and staff needs to develop initiatives to address technology needs • Manage subscriptions and user accounts for software utilized by the department (ie. Big Interview) • Report issues that require back-end support to corresponding IT staff GED INSTRUCTION • Instruct students on material needed in order to earn their GED certificate and connect them to online curriculum resources like Essential Ed LMS, Kaplan GED, and GED.com as well as curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students • Tutor students on an individual basis and teach basic skills encompassing math, science, and English • Create lesson plans using online study platforms and modify them accordingly throughout the year • Review test results and keep track of students’ progress • Develop professional relationships with other agencies to facilitate service delivery QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES: • Demonstrated understanding of the intersection of racism and poverty • Commitment to diversity and ability to work well with diverse family styles and multi-ethnic populations • Minimum 1 year teaching experience • Experience working with communities of color • Core competencies expected: achievement caring, communication: oral and written, initiative, collaboration, planning, and organizing/time management, interpersonal skills, negotiating, decision making, problem-solving, professionalism, technical expertise, fostering diversity, social justice advocacy
