Salary : $60,000-70,000 based on experienceGraphic DesignerThames & Kosmos is looking for a talented, inspired, full-time graphic designer to join our in-house design team. As a graphic designer, you will help us create and market awesome educational toys and games for kids and families. You will be responsible for a wide variety of product- and marketing-related design tasks, including package designs and visual marketing materials.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign and layout of retail packaging for our products, including structure, and graphicsResearching packaging trends and determining marketing requirements to inform the design processCreate beautiful and exciting sets of marketing images to promote our products on all our sales channelsCollaborate with our sales and marketing teams to create engaging and exciting social media content to drive sales and raise brand awarenessPhotography and creation of beautiful product images for packaging and other applicationsDesign of marketing materials such as print ads, sell sheets, presentation decks, promotional items, and catalogsDesign of signage, displays, and other merchandising materials for retail stores and tradeshowsCreate product renderings from engineering CAD drawings (3D texturing, lighting, and scene composition) for packaging and other applicationsSecondary ResponsibilitiesIllustration for product packaging, manuals, and marketing materialsCreating physical prototypes and packaging mockupsUpdates to the company website, both updating / editing copy and creation / management of imagesContributing to product design and branding effortsAssistance with the creation of product videosDesign Skills and ExperienceRequirements :Bachelor's degree or higher5 or more years of graphic design experience in toys or other children's consumer products / mediaExceptional Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Acrobat skillsStrong digital photography, lighting, and image retouching skillsThe ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following special skills and experience :Strong visual design skills, including understanding composition, organization of information, hierarchy, use of type, and color theoryRefined sense of design, a keen eye, and attention to detailAbility to critique your own work and others work, and absorb and apply feedbackAbility to do competitive research and analysis of other products, packages, and designs in the market to inform design workAbility to identify the key features of a product and create a series of images to tell the products story.Ability to creatively use available graphic assets to create new and more useful imagery.Ability to understand, work with, and adhere to style guides, as well as develop new style guides.Physical crafting skills to cut and build packaging mockups and prototypesExperience with pre-press, file preparation, and sending of art files to printersExperience with e-commerce platforms like Shopify3D rendering and CAD skillsGeneral SkillsCreative and resourcefulOrganized and highly motivated with a high attention to detail.Experience managing many projects, tasks, and deliverables simultaneously, determining and balancing prioritiesStrong verbal and written communication skills, especially when it comes to design discussionsSound critical thinking and problem-solving skillsSelf-starter who can work independently but knows when to collaborate and bring others on the team into the decision-making processFast learner; can learn, retain, and apply information quickly and efficientlyAbility to remain calm, positive, and effective in high-energy, high-expectation situations of urgencyExperience with Mac OS, Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Monday.comA strong passion for storytelling, brand-building, and marketingA genuine interest in Thames & Kosmos products and missionCompensationThis full-time, in-house position is located in Providence, RI.
