A wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered, from the baccalaureate through the doctorate, including programs in dance, music performance, collaborative piano, music education, composition, theory, musicology, jazz studies, piano and string pedagogy, conducting, music technology, and music with a liberal arts emphasis. It is also home to the internationally recognized Oregon Bach Festival and ChamberMusic@Beall performance series.Position SummaryThe School of Music and Dance (SOMD) Graphic Designer and Multimedia Specialist (Specialist) serves as the primary print and digital designer for all SOMD projects, with a special emphasis on digital communications. Additional duties include involvement with the unit’s social media channels, as well as photography and videography.Minimum Requirements• 4 Years of Graphic Design experience OR• Associates Degree + 3 years of Graphic Design experience OR• Bachelors Degree + 2 years of Graphic Design experience*Degree may be in Graphic Design, Graphic Art, Fine Art, or closely related field.• Ability to utilize interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community• Ability to remain organized with an attention to detail• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities• Ability to meet goals and timelines• Commitment to excellence in creating materials for constituents• Ability to think critically and solve problems, use good judgment, and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive informationPreferred Qualifications• Skills in photography, video, and digital animation using After Effects or similar program• Experience with MidJourney generative AI• Knowledge of Drupal• Experience in higher education and/or arts advertising• Skills in photography, video and/or audio editing, and/or animation• Proven track record with original design concepts, collaborative work with other designers, and work for both print and digital mediums• Advanced skills with Adobe Creative Suite and website management• Experience with Microsoft Office, email marketing, and other electronic forms of communication• Experience with social media platforms, including art creation and advertisements for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and othersFLSA Exempt: NoAll offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.This is a classified position represented by the SEIU Local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.The University of Oregon is proud to offer a robust benefits package to eligible employees, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
