Video and Motion Designer

BASK Digital Media is seeking to fill a position as a Video & Motion Designer, working with our growing Design and Development Team with the Head Designer to design and produce engaging video content and motion graphics. Apply via the Careers page of our website: https://baskdigital.com/careers/ Department: Design and Development Responsibilities: • Collaborate with the Account Team and Head Designer to assemble recorded or stock video footage, applying artistic editing techniques and graphic elements to create finished, broadcast-worthy ads for TV and digital, social media videos, motion graphics, and GIFs • Assist in sourcing stock video, imagery, music, voice over talent and sound effects that fit and enhance the tone of the script • Conceptualize and create animated 2D or 3D video infographics and animations from scratch to simplify complex concepts • Design and animate creative elements to enhance video footage • Master the design principles like typography, composition, colors, and styles into every project • Animate words on screen in visually effective ways to match the tone of the video and enhance the message impact • Sort through RAW video from the filming crew and clip into usable and organized assets • Optimize videos for the web • Opportunity to review script and create a shot wish list for film crew • Opportunity to conceptualize and team up with web developers to create highly engaging graphic-based animations for websites • Support in other areas of graphic design and production when needed • Opportunity to assist in QAing web development and design projects • Possibility for infrequent travel for on-site filming • Opportunity to conceptualize and collaborate for BASK branding materials including filming and video shoots, marketing videos and presentations • Manage time and prioritize daily workload • Provide creative and design guiding eye, strategy, and review across departments • Keep up with industry news, design trends and strategies and integrate new ideas into deliverables Required Capabilities: • 5+ years of experience in motion design and/or video editing • Expert in video editing software packages which can include: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Lightworks • and editing software packages which can include: • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio • Demonstrable ability creating animated infographics • Familiarity with special effects and compositing • Creative mind and storytelling skills • An interest in working in the fast-paced world of advocacy, public affairs, and ballot measures • Can-do attitude, the work hours can be atypical as our work is centered heavily around political events (i.e. legislative sessions, elections, etc.) • Ability to perform well under tight deadlines • Ability to grow and learn from feedback and design edits. • Great attention to detail • Excellent communication capabilities • Ability to multitask different projects • Desire to learn and apply new skills in a very fast-paced energized environment Bonus Capabilities: • Experience in Vector animations in SVGs, Cinema 4D, Adobe XD, HTML5 ads, and HTML/CSS • Prior work/internship with a digital advertising or PR agency • Solid conceptual understanding of the political process in the United States and a passion to be involved and learn more Success in this role will be measured in the following ways: • Ability to visualize directorial concepts from client leads and Head Designer to produce refined, broadcast- worthy video ads and content • Ability to take a concept and expand on it to create a design that works in both form and function • Ability to incorporate multiple rounds of feedback quickly and with a good attitude • Ability to quickly learn both client guidelines and platform guidelines per project and adjust designs accordingly • Adapting quickly to changes in a fast-paced environment • Willingness to apply and learn from other points of view • Self- reliant in problem solving during tight deadlines • Ability to apply feedback and learnings from one project to others while still keeping each project unique Type: Full Time Compensation: DOE Benefits: • Hybrid WFH/in-office work schedule • Competitive salary • 20 days of PTO (10 flexible + 10 national holidays) • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance • 401K with company match opportunity • Office snacks and drinks (cold brew on tap, beer on tap, drink fridge, snacks, etc) • Quarterly staff outings (baseball games, happy hours, etc.)
