Position Summary and Qualifications: The Department of Art and Art History at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Graphic Design, from collaboration-minded colleagues with qualifications, experience, and passionate... interests across design practice, theory, and criticism, for the 2024-2025 academic year. Duties for this position include: • Teach foundation and advanced courses in all areas of Graphic Design, (4 courses a semester) • Remain knowledgeable about developments and trends in the field and proficient in current Graphic Design software and practices. Required • MFA in Graphic Design or related field completed by August 15, 2024 • Minimum two (2) years of teaching Graphic Design at the college level as instructor of record • Evidence of ongoing professional creative practice • Theoretical and technical expertise in graphic design practices and principles, typography, branding, web/interactive design, motion graphics, evolving computer programs, and digital design tools • Mastery of appropriate industry standard art and design software • Knowledge of contemporary and traditional methods in the field, both digital and analog • Experience working successfully with a diverse student body • Demonstrated ability to teach across the curriculum from introductory, intermediate, and advanced level courses • Strong collaboration skills; demonstrate enthusiasm toward teaching and working with faculty, staff, and students within the university; and building and maintaining professional relationships and community engagement outside of the university on the program's behalf • Excellent communication skills.
