Curatorial Assistant and Social Media Coordinator

We are seeking a “back office” professional with solid relevant experience to handle a variety of technical tasks necessary to keep everything about our web presence and our fine art offerings online engaging and current, to maintain compliance with the requirements of the third-party site through which we offer fine art for sale, and to coordinate with our gallery director and other staff to successfully execute our social media promotions and to promote our art gallery. OVERVIEW OF ROLE: The successful candidate must have a strong background in fine art, be experienced with web applications for selling online, able to organize/create attractive layouts of products offered for sale online consistent with relevant third-party guidelines, able to interact well with artists and technical staff of vendors and online platforms to get promotions executed, able to develop engaging content for social media platforms and interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments, assist in the creation and editing of written and photo content, and organize and maintain artwork database using a specialized application. RESPONSIBLITIES: \\- Assist the Gallery Director with all aspects of exhibition research, planning, and organization \\- Onboard new artists and maintain accurate collection records \\- Perform routine administrative duties in support of the Gallery’s initiatives \\- Develop and post original, creative content across social media channels \\- Engage and interact with online followers and emerging collectors \\- Write all exhibition-related materials, including artwork descriptions, artist biographies, and press releases \\- Operate as a liaison between the Gallery and other third-party organizations REQUIREMENTS: \\- University or college degree in art preferred \\- Prior experience with works of art and/or operations and collections management \\- Well-versed in social media platforms (i.e. Instagram and Facebook) \\- Strong writing and communication skills \\- An eye for art and design; the confidence to make definitive curatorial selections and recommendations \\- Detail-orientated and well-organized \\- Ability to collaborate, work as a team, and independently balance concurrent short and long term projects \\- Graphic Design work experience is a plus \\- Prior experience with Google Drive, Microsoft Teams and AirTable is also a plus STRUCTURE: This is a job that can be done remotely from the candidate’s home office. You should have a late model personal computer to use in carrying out the duties of the job.
